THE EROS PARADOX
Act 1: Felix Blau, a charismatic but amoral con artist, discovers a side effect of the experimental time-travel drug CHRON-X: when taken by a couple during sex, it sends one partner forward ten years while the other remains. Felix sees an opportunity. He begins seducing women, administering the drug, and sending them to the future—erasing them from his present and depriving him of any emotional entanglement or alimony claims.
Act 2: His scheme flourishes until he meets Anna, a sharp-witted journalist who suspects something is wrong after her friend, also sent forward, contacts her via a murky, staticky radio transmitter that appears in Felix’s bathroom. Anna decides to bed Felix herself, intending to record his confession. But during the act, Felix administers the drug to her as well.
Act 3: Anna wakes up in 2035, pregnant with Felix’s child. Through the radio, she learns that Felix has been doing this for years; a cult-like organization of “forward-sent” women has formed, all carrying his genetic offspring. They’re building something. Meanwhile, in 2025, Felix discovers a note on his bathroom mirror in Anna’s handwriting: “You can’t escape us, Felix. We’re your future.” He realizes with horror that by impregnating these women and sending them forward, he has created a dynasty that will one day claim him. The radio in his bathroom turns on by itself. A chorus of women’s voices hums a lullaby.
Characters:
- Felix Blau: Sun-tanned, silver-tongued, with a bodybuilder’s physique and a perpetual grin that never reaches his eyes.
- Anna Feldon: Sleek, dark, with intelligent, unwinking gaze. Wears practical but stylish clothes.
- The Future Women (collective): Only heard or glimpsed; ethereal, fanatical, and sexually ambiguous.
Themes: The consequences of sexual hedonism; the manipulation of time for personal gain; the creation of unintended legacies; the feminine as both object of desire and agent of retribution.
